industrial-fire-engineering

Industrial Fire Engineering

The Industrial Fire and Risk Engineering team are focussed on ensuring the highest standard of safety and compliance across hazardous industries, including mining, oil and gas, land and sea transport, water and wastewater treatment, process industries and specialty facilities such as research laboratories and healthcare. We are equally aware of the costs associated with the operational sustainability of fire safety and fire protection systems, so our approach is to provide a ‘fit for purpose’ solution that always takes into account operator human factors to make best use of the systems.

dangerous-goods

Dangerous Goods

In nearly all regions, government regulates dangerous goods/ hazardous chemicals storage and handling to minimise the likelihood of accidents and to minimise adverse impacts. A significant challenge posed to operators of dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals facilities is meeting their safety obligations due to dangerous goods safety management requirements being quite onerous. The Mendham Consultants team are accredited in Dangerous Goods by the Australasian Institute of Dangerous Goods Consultants (AIDGC) and are available to assist in this complex field.

hazardous-areas

Hazardous Areas

Hazardous Area engineering is predominantly associated with the storage and handling of combustible dusts, flammable liquids and gases at locations, such as laboratories, mines, power stations, chemical storage and manufacturing facilities, as well as shipping and loading facilities.

Our team is skilled and accredited in Hazardous Area Classification, Hazardous Area Design and Hazardous Area Installation Auditing. Where appropriate, we utilise ‘performance based’ approaches that are compliant and recognised nationally by regulators to add massive value to projects compared with some of the more traditional and esoteric prescriptive approaches.

risk-facilitation-th

Risk Facilitation

Our capabilities cover all aspects of risk facilitation from business continuity, corporate governance, Safety in Design and Process Hazard Analysis across the entire project lifecycle, including planning phases, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed design, construction, operation, maintenance and demolition. We are experienced in addressing a range of operational risk and value management proposition analyses leading to clearly defined recommendations.

environmental-risk

Environmental Risk

Our Environmental professionals regularly work in conjunction with our Dangerous Goods consultants to provide thorough assessments of hazardous chemical and other chemicals scenarios, particularly in relation to risks associated with Loss of Containment events. We are quite experienced in providing such services to clients involved in waste oil and used battery disposal for both proposed and existing facilities.

We have most recently undertaken such studies for Lismore City Council and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Road for their Harbour Waste Oil Disposal facilities, which are utilised by trawler operators along the Queensland coast in an effort to reduce disposal at sea of such chemicals.

reliability-engineering

Reliability Engineering

Our capabilities in Reliability Engineering do not just cover dangerous goods and hazardous area systems, we cover everything. We have even provided support to NSW Government Transport (previously Roads and Maritime Services) in relation to Traffic Control Signals and all things related to traffic intersections. Our work for this client included facilitating risk Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), which fed into Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and finally into a Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) study.
